09-02-2025 - 2:20 PM - From the U.S. Federal Trade Commission - Disney will pay $10 million to settle Federal Trade Commission allegations that the company allowed personal data to be collected from children who viewed kid-directed videos on YouTube without notifying parents or obtaining their consent as required by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA Rule).

09-02-2025 - 6:20 PM - The Local Group is active on CB Radio Channel 23. I'm unsure if they arrived at 5:30, like they do on many days, as I was away from the radio. Tune in or join in.

09-02-2025 - 6:50 PM - I'm not finding any Parks on the Air® stations with decent signals at the moment, so I'm listening to an ARRL (American Radio Relay League) Morse code practice session on 14.047.50 MHz. This session is a bit slow for me, but that's okay because I'm now watching an oil painting video on YouTube. Who knows what’ll be doing five minutes from now? Not me.

09-01-2025 - 6:15 AM - Good Morning! It's Monday, and Labor Day! Something I might not have mentioned before is the Military Air Band. Set your scanner radio to search between 225 MHz and 400 MHz to catch this activity. Of course, around here, it's Sheppard Air Force Base, and I can tell you that there is activity across that band. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.

09-01-2025 - 6:35 AM - ERCOT (Texas) snapshot of grid conditions - ERCOT reports that conditions are normal and there is enough power for current demand with an operating reserve of 9,864 Megawatts.

09-01-2025 - 7:00 AM - It's Simplex Sunday, a day to give those Amateur Radio repeaters a break, if possible, and flex those simplex muscles. It's like giving your generator a regular run. Use the more inclusive two-meter FM simplex. Analog, please! GMRS users, you can play, too!

09-01-2025 - 7:10 AM - The CB Radio makes its first sound this morning on Channel 6, in the voice of a station in Jamaica. I have yet to hear any local traffic on Channel 19. That could be light today, but the skip shooters will soon be "wall-to-wall, and tree-top tall," as they say. I can't believe I said that. I love CB Radio, but I despise CB Radio lingo.

09-01-2025 - 10:45 AM - Dog Tip: Unless there's a place of safety a few feet away, it might not be wise to run from a vicious dog. You'll only burn up valuable energy you'll need to fight that dog once it catches you. Or, the dog might not be in the mood to chase anyone. It's your coin to flip.

09-01-2025 - 2:45 PM - Our local Air Evac Lifeteam crew is on the air at 159.900 MHz. If you're curious, tune in with your scanner radio.

09-01-2025 - 4:15 PM - I haven't heard a catfight on the CB Radio at our local Flying J truck stop in a long time. I guess no one has blocked a pump while inside taking a shower, or committed some other truck stop social felony lately.

08-31-2025 - 5:00 AM - Good Morning! It's Sunday, and the Wichita Amateur Radio Society holds its weekly informal net tonight at 8:00 PM on the club's 147.140 MHz repeater. As far as I know, all licensed Amateur (ham) Radio operators are invited to check in. Of course, scanner radio enthusiasts can also tune in. I'm listening to CW (Morse code) on the Amateur (ham) Radio 40-meter band on my Yaesu 857D while my Folgers Black Silk coffee is brewing. Let's see what the day brings.
